Privacy Policy
DoshDoshGo (“we”, “us”) is an iPhone app that helps travellers understand money in the real world — converting prices, splitting bills, and optionally keeping work expenses. This policy explains what information the app uses and how we treat it. We design for privacy: most data stays on your device.
1. Who this applies to
This policy covers the DoshDoshGo iOS app and the website at doshdoshgo.com.
2. Information the app uses
On your device (not uploaded to our servers as a product feature)
- Camera / photos you choose. Used to recognise prices and receipts. Frames and photos you capture for work expenses stay on your device for your trips and exports unless you share them yourself.
- Optional location. If you allow it, we may use a coarse location once to suggest a travel currency for the country you are in. We do not use location to track you over time.
- Settings & preferences. Home currency, travel currency, sounds, receipt language, and similar preferences are stored on device (including via Apple’s UserDefaults).
- Trips, expenses, wallet entries, and receipt images you save for work. Stored locally on your device so you can review and export them.
- Purchases & entitlements. Plus, Business, and Trip Pass status are managed through Apple’s StoreKit / App Store. We do not receive your full payment card details.
Processed off-device when you use optional features
- Smart Fix / Convert receipt (Plus or Business, and Trip Pass while active). When you use these features, receipt or bill text (and related structure needed to suggest line items) may be sent to Google’s Gemini API to help read messy receipts. We do not intend this text to be stored by us after your session. Please review results; AI can still err.
- Exchange rates. The app fetches reference foreign-exchange rates from third-party rate providers so conversions can update. Amounts and rates shown are for travel reference — not bank settlement rates.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run advertising trackers in the app for third-party ads.
- We do not invent OCR success or fake exchange rates.
- We do not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice. Exports are tools for you and your bookkeeper.
4. Apple App Store & subscriptions
Payments for Plus, Business, and Trip Pass are processed by Apple. Apple’s privacy practices apply to App Store account data and billing. Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
5. Children
DoshDoshGo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Data retention & deletion
Local trip and expense data remains on your device until you delete it in-app or remove the app. Uninstalling the app removes on-device app data (subject to any device backups you control). To ask a privacy question, email privacy@doshdoshgo.com.
7. International processing
If you use Smart Fix / Convert receipt, receipt text may be processed by Google’s Gemini infrastructure, which may operate in regions outside your country. Exchange-rate providers may also process requests from your device’s network location.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will post the new effective date on this page.
